Leona Black Jones, 83, of W Black Road, Clearfield, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at the Life Care Center in Morehead.
Born March 16, 1940, in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Lemuel Black and Bessie Kidd Black. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Charlie L. Jones whom she wed December 7, 1957, and passed away on October 2, 2016; one brother, Ivis Black; and one sister, Pauline Jones.
Leona is survived by one son, Tony Jones and wife Peggy of Olive Hill; one daughter, Patty Jones Conley and husband Neal of Clearfield; three cherished grandchildren; Blake Jones and wife Liz, Brittany Kegley and husband Ervin, and Hannah Conley Patrick and husband Todd; and six precious great grandchildren, Cadence Caskey, Calen Caskey, Sean Kidd, Khloe Kidd, Stella Ann Jones, and Lily Jones.
Other survivors include two brothers, Wayne Black and wife Judith and Lemuel Black, Jr.; sister-in-law, Shirley Black, all of Morehead; several nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends.
Leona worked for more than 40 years in retail sales and was the manager for Martins Department Store in Morehead and West Liberty. Leona was a loving mother and devoted grandmother and great grandmother whose greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Leona faithfully attended Slab Camp Christian Church and will be lovingly remembered by all.
Funeral services will be conducted 12 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Herbie Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the McClain-Arnold Cemetery. Grandchildren and great grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2024, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
