Kermit Vencill II Obituary

Kermit Lewis Vencill II, age 44, of Cranston Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.

Born April 2, 1976, in Kettering, Ohio, he is the son of Sue McMillan Vencill of Morehead and the late Kermit Lewis “Sonny” Vencill, who passed away December 5, 1985.  He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Hoke McMillan and Janie Dockery, and paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Ruby Lewis Vencill.

In addition to his mother, Kermit is survived by his wife, Laura D. Rucker, of Sideway; sister, Sarah Lynnette Vencill (Brooke Hardin) of Lexington; five nieces and nephews, Tyler Hardin, Hoke Hardin, Charli Hardin, Tivis Sheehan and Clay Sheehan; and Kermit’s cousins, Carolyn VanKannel, Amy Centers, Zachary Centers, Michael McMillan, Katrina Venters and their children. His beloved uncles include Howard McMillian (Anne) and the late Kenneth M. Vencill II (Barbara) and aunts Pamelia Tinker (Bud) and Sandi Centers (the late Charles Centers).

Kermit was a library specialist at Morehead State University Camden-Carroll Library, a member of Morehead First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and a member of Soldier Masonic Lodge No. 708.   Kermit lived big and loved just as much.  In addition to spending time with his many treasured friends, Kermit loved to be with his loving family.  He was a proud and doting uncle, always ready with a tall tale and a treat.  Kermit loved animals and listening to all types of music, rather loudly.
