Kermit Lewis Vencill II, age 44, of Cranston Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.
Born April 2, 1976, in Kettering, Ohio, he is the son of Sue McMillan Vencill of Morehead and the late Kermit Lewis “Sonny” Vencill, who passed away December 5, 1985. He was also preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Hoke McMillan and Janie Dockery, and paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Ruby Lewis Vencill.
In addition to his mother, Kermit is survived by his wife, Laura D. Rucker, of Sideway; sister, Sarah Lynnette Vencill (Brooke Hardin) of Lexington; five nieces and nephews, Tyler Hardin, Hoke Hardin, Charli Hardin, Tivis Sheehan and Clay Sheehan; and Kermit’s cousins, Carolyn VanKannel, Amy Centers, Zachary Centers, Michael McMillan, Katrina Venters and their children. His beloved uncles include Howard McMillian (Anne) and the late Kenneth M. Vencill II (Barbara) and aunts Pamelia Tinker (Bud) and Sandi Centers (the late Charles Centers).
Kermit was a library specialist at Morehead State University Camden-Carroll Library, a member of Morehead First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and a member of Soldier Masonic Lodge No. 708. Kermit lived big and loved just as much. In addition to spending time with his many treasured friends, Kermit loved to be with his loving family. He was a proud and doting uncle, always ready with a tall tale and a treat. Kermit loved animals and listening to all types of music, rather loudly.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 10, 2020, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351. At 2:30 p.m., Soldier Masonic Lodge No. 708 will present Masonic rites; and at 3 p.m. a celebration of life will be held with Rev. Nancy Gowler officiating. For those who want to participate in the service virtually, the service will be live streamed at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Facebook page beginning at 3 p.m.
Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery. Michael McMillan, Zachary Centers, Steven DeBellefeuille, Joshua LeMaster, Michael DeBellefeuille, and David Sheehan will serve as pallbearers.
COVID – 19 regulations as set forth by the state will be observed.
