James Paul Gregory

James Paul Gregory, age 83, of Stacy Road, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Friday, February 23, 2024, at his residence.

Born August 29, 1940, in Fleming County, Kentucky, James was the son of the late Lloyd and Lula Eldridge Gregory.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Gregory; one sister, Darlene Gregory Rayburn; one son, Jeff Gregory; and his companion and wife of 17 years, Olive Plank Gregory.

James is survived by three children:  Cheryl Hunt of Flemingsburg, KY, Shawna Florence of Flemingsburg, Brent and Tina Gregory of Morehead; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Gregory of Flemingsburg; three brothers, Earl and Frances Gregory of Clyde, Ohio, Gary and Sherry Gregory of Jamestown, Ohio, and Ennis Gregory of Mt. Sterling; and one sister, Amy Wright of Nicholasville.

Other survivors include grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.   

James was a former employee of Morehead State University and Cowden Manufacturing Company. A skilled carpenter and woodworker, his attention to detail was obvious whether he was refinishing a piece of furniture or creating a special project.  He also greatly enjoyed gardening and maintaining his yard so that everything was neat and orderly. He loved visiting with family and friends and will be greatly missed.

A celebration of life will be held at 12 noon Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Butch Kelsey officiating.

Burial will follow in the Caudill Cemetery at Sharkey, Kentucky.

Pallbearers will be Larry Robinson, Harry Gulley, Blake Branham, Heath Loper, Jeff Logan and Dale Plank.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 12 noon Tuesday at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
