Douglas Marvin Horsley, age 58, of Holly Lane Hillsboro, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the U.K. Bluegrass Hospice Care Center in Lexington.
Born August 15, 1965, in Portsmouth, Ohio, he is the son of Maxine Gilliam Horsley of Hillsboro and the late Howard Horsley. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Rocky Dean Horsley and a sister, Sheila Ann Burriss.
In addition to his mother, Marvin is survived by one sister, Barbara Hafer of Hillsboro; two brothers, Estill Martin Horsley of Hillsboro and Jesse Chris and wife Mary Horsley of Petersville and countless nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, as well as extended family and many friends.
Marvin was a self-employed landscaper and took great pride in mowing and weed eating yards to perfection. He also enjoyed watching Western movies and reading cabin and gun magazines. A faithful member of the Hillsboro Christian Church, he participated in many church activities and especially enjoyed the many hours he spent working with the youth in Vacation Bible School. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2024, at Hutton Funeral Home with Brother Greg Grimes officiating. Burial will follow in Morgan Cemetery in Lewis County. Pallbearers will be Tim Vise, Bill Story, Chris Horsley, Martin Horsley, Jerry Welch, and Chris Burriss.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024, and after 12 noon on Sunday at Hutton Funeral Home, 7634 Hillsboro Road, Hillsboro, KY 41049.
