Obituary for Ronald Dale "Ronnie" Sturgill

Ronald Dale “Ronnie” Sturgill, 74, of Owens Road, Clearfield, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington.

He was born August 9, 1943, in Rowan County, a son of the late Edgar Sturgill and Velma Day Sturgill Landers.

Ronnie is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carolyn Skaggs Sturgill, whom he wed February 27, 1971; two sons, Kevin Sturgill and Aaron Sturgill, both of Morehead; four grandchildren, Dakota Sturgill, Summer Sloan, Presley Sturgill, and Cody Sturgill; a brother, Mike Gilliam of Morehead, as well as extended family and friends.

Ronnie retired from Sealmaster after 29 years of service and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren, and his many friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, August 28, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Tim Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in the Skaggs Cemetery on Christy Creek, Apple Grove Lane.

Pallbearers: Lewis Lyons, Josh Catron, Alex Robinson, Arnold Moore, Micah Wallace, Joe Brumfield, and Billy Williams. Honorary pallbearers: Larry Skaggs and Frankie Skaggs.

Visitation is Sunday, August 27, 2017, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
