Obituary for Olgie Doyle Gilliam

Olgie Doyle Gilliam, 65, of Rolling Acres, Morehead, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.

Born November 30, 1952, in Elliott County, he was a son of the late Olgie “Red” and Wanda Phillips Gilliam.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Wade Gilliam, whom he married December 31, 2015; one son, Jason Doyle (Laura) Gilliam of Lexington; two daughters, Crystal Dawn (Jeremy) Bowling and Alyssa Brooke Gilliam, all of Morehead; five grandchildren, Felicia Dawn Bowling, Jeremy Scott Bowling, Lane Mitchell Bowling, Faith Elaine Bowling, and Ella Marie Gilliam; and one great granddaughter, Becklyn Ray McGlone.

Also surviving are two brothers, Gordon (Barbara) Gilliam of Lexington, and Gregory (Becky) Gilliam of Morehead; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

He was currently a supervisor for Adams Contracting Company and was passionate about his work. Doyle began working with his father and had over 40 years of construction experience. He served six years in the National Guard and was a member of Morehead Masonic Lodge No. 654.

Doyle loved listening to Bluegrass music, playing the guitar, banjo, and mandolin, and attending Bluegrass festivals.

Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Friday, June 22, 2018, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. David Starcher officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers: Jeremy Scott Bowling, Lane Mitchell Bowling, Walt Cassity, Charlie Hamm, Don Hall, and Reggie Wheeler.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 21, 2018, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
