Obituary for Harold Warner Kitchen

Harold Warner Kitchen, age 93, of Imlay City, Michigan, formerly of Henagar, Alabama, died Monday, July 10, 2017, at his daughter’s home.

Born February 4, 1924, in Portsmouth, Ohio, he was the son of the late Elton and Pearl Mae (Lyons) Kitchen. Harold grew up in Carter County, Kentucky, and married Geneva Peach Hamm on March 12, 1947, in Soldier, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his wife in September 2011.

He proudly served in the United States Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946. Harold was employed as a truck driver for Hostess Bakery in Alabama. He had also worked as a security guard for Hostess Bakery. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

He is survived by one daughter: Garnet Jean (Raymond) Ususan of Imlay City, MI; two sons: Bill (Helena) Kitchen of Warren, MI, and Roger (Anita) Kitchen of Brown City, MI; six grandchildren: Kari, Amber, Brianna, Michael, Matthew, and Victoria; and nine great-grandchildren.

Harold was preceded in death by his wife: Geneva Kitchen; one son: John Kitchen; three granddaughters: Lisa, Lesley, and Janice; and two brothers: Raymond Kitchen and Chester Kitchen.

Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Roger Kitchen officiating. Burial will follow in Masters Cemetery with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post 126.

Pallbearers: Bill Kitchen, Roger Kitchen, James Kitchen, Paul Basford, Kane Basford, and Chris Traylor.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead, Kentucky.
